We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to support the delivery of a high-quality school meals service in junior, primary and secondary schools. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced but supportive school environment.
This is a daytime, term-time role only, offering excellent work–life balance with no evenings or late nights.
What We’re Looking For:
A friendly and approachable individual who enjoys working with children and school staff.
Someone able to assist with basic food preparation and service in a busy school kitchen.
A reliable team player who can also use initiative when working independently.
Good communication skills with the ability to follow simple written and verbal instructions.
An individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Physically fit and comfortable with standing for long periods and manual handling tasks.
Level 2 Food Safety (or willing to work towards).
A clear Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting with the basic preparation and cooking of food and beverages.
Setting up, serving and clearing dining areas before and after service.
Ensuring correct portion control and attractive food presentation during service.
Cleaning kitchen equipment, dining furniture and designated areas in line with hygiene standards and cleaning rotas.
Washing, drying and storing crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils.
Assisting with deliveries, stock storage and waste disposal.
Promoting excellent customer service while being mindful of safeguarding responsibilities.
Adhering to all Health & Safety and Food Safety policies and procedures.
